Join us for service. All are welcome!
Kevin A. Tichenor Sr. in September of 2002 obeyed the call of God and founded Overcoming Faith Apostolic Church. Pastor Tichenor and his family and two other families began to fellowship at the request of his dad on Sunday’s at Jesus Saves Apostolic Church and taught Bible class at the home of Sister Eugenia Jewell for about four months until Sister Jewell opened her entire home to Overcoming Faith. We began to have Sunday Services and Bible class in her living room that she had converted to a sanctuary, complete with pulpit furniture and stained-glass windows (Oh what a sacrifice)! In April of 2003, we were blessed to find a small edifice located on 30th and Baltimore which we currently reside giving God the glory. Our ministry continues to believe the best is yet to come!
To build a multi-cultural church by preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. To help believers develop toward full Christian maturity and train them for effective Kingdom Ministry.
To build a dynamic soul-centered ministry through the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His apostles, to emphasize the Lordship of Jesus Christ as being vital to the growth of every believer.
The purpose of having a vision is to keep the Ministry focused on those things God has set the Ministry out to accomplish (Mission). Without vision, people lose sight of why -they are putting forth effort and only see the effort they are expending. If this pattern of behavior continues it is easy to see why restraint would be cast off and self-indulgence would become the order of the day. A life of self-indulgence will ultimately end in destruction; a Ministry of self-indulgence would be faced with the same fate!
Unless God's people have a clear understanding of where they are headed, the probability of a successful journey is severely limited. Unless you attend to His call upon your life and ministry, you are likely to experience confusion, weariness, dissipation, and impotence.
Vision has been defined as foresight with insight based on hindsight. To broaden it, vision for ministry is a clear mental image of a preferable future imparted by God to His chosen servants and is based upon an accurate understanding of God, self, and circumstances. Vision for ministry is stretching reality to extend beyond the existing state.
The purpose of the vision is to create the future. The future is not something that just happens; it is a reality that is created by those strong enough to exert control over their environment.
The vision of Overcoming Faith Apostolic Assembly is a ministry that has been established to reach the lost through the gospel of Jesus Christ and His apostles and to make this our priority. According to Ephesians 2:20; the bible teaches that we are founded on the apostles and prophets, and Jesus is our chief cornerstone.
The most important aspect of a foundation is its cornerstone. Often in kingdom work, we seem to lose focus on Jesus and the preaching of His life, death, and resurrection as being the power to radically change lives. .
Second, this ministry seeks to emphasize the Lordship of Jesus Christ as being the most vital aspect of one's growth and salvation. We believe that if every believer develops a strong and vital relationship with Jesus, his or her relationship with Him will be all they need to help them get from earth to glory (St. John 15).
Finally, we believe that nothing can be accomplished without a strong faith in God, and this faith gives us the power to overcome all obstacles that may befall us when trying to fulfill our vision, and when the vision comes to pass, it will be true victory ( I John 5:4 ). This is the vision of Overcoming Faith Apostolic Church and it is our sincere prayer that Jesus Christ will lead you to be a part of this purpose-driven ministry.
There is one God, who has revealed Himself as Father; through His Son, in redemption; and as the Holy Spirit, by emanation. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man. (See Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16
The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel (II Thessalonians 1:8; I Peter 4:17) by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance (resurrection). (See I Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Romans 6:3-4.)
The Bible is the infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living. (See II Timothy 3:15-17.)
Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (See Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9.)
As Christians we are to love God and others. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are for the church today. (See Mark 12:28-31; II Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; I Corinthians 12:8-10.)
Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away His church. In the end, will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death. (See I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15.)
